Southeast Log

We awoke today to more rain and fog as the day wore on a bit of wind started to make things interesting. Did our usual weekend errands into town but decided we would stop by a few car dealerships to see what was available. Audrey my co-worker purchased a really nice vehicle this past week, which reminded us that we need to replace one of our vehicles before too long. The first place we stopped by had a few Subaru and Fords that caught our eye, but they didn't fit with our wallets. We then headed out down to a dealership just next to our local Wal-Mart store. By this time the weather was really nasty but to our surprise one of the salesmans met us outside anyway. He stated that anyone showing up today to shop for cars in this weather qualified for reduce cost. Of course we had to go inside to take advantage of that deal. Salesman was pleasant to talk with as we didn't feel like he was pressuring us to buy. We left our contact information with him in the hopes that he could find us the vehicle at the right price.

Not much else going on today, so I thought I would share with you some stories from our weekend newspaper The Ketchikan Daily News. There is a section of the paper that is called the Southeast Log which consist of short write ups from the various small town police blotters in southesaat Alaskan communities. The two of us really get a good laugh from these stories and marvel at what people will report to the police. Here are a few taken from this weekends newspaper...you won't find these on Google News searches.

What's new?
Police receive a compliant of a dog chasing a cat. - The Wrangell Sentinel

Brilliant
A man called police and requested he be jailed. The man said he had "been drinking a long time", and was "just not feeling good." Officers had a better idea. They drove him home.

Final say
A father came into the police station saking to speak with an officer. The father's request? The paper reported he did not want "a certain juvenile hanging out with his daughter."

Here are few more from last weekends newspaper that was sitting around here collecting dust.

- The Wrangell Sentinel

On such a bored weekend one can understand how these became note worthy stories. I think I'll go clean up the basement perhaps finish my honey do list...it's a good way to stay out of the paper.
