Our Catch

Here is the typical view from the lodge of some of us fishing from the banks. It was nice to see this sight each morning sipping on a cup of coffee. Uncle Paul was usually out of the lodge real early before most of us. He usually came back about mid-morning with a stringer full and then would head back out to join a few of us.

Matthew and Grandpa working on reeling in a few trout. Grandpa sat in this spot most of the time and reeled in about 5 trout during this vacation.

Little Olivia made daddy promise to catch her a golden trout since she was broken hearted to know she wasn't going on the fishing trip. So Bill set off to his favorite spot to keep his promise.

Bill worked real hard to get this one to bite and his efforts paid off. His daughter Olivia will be very happy.

Mike and Danny decided that is was time to double up on a fishing hole to confuse the trout.

There were times that all of us had to move up river to give the fishing holes down river a rest.

I headed up stream above everyone else and found a fishing hole that hadn't been worked over for several hours. It was a beautiful thing to see these fish hit on a lure then dancing across the water and rolling to the bottom to get loose. This one wasn't so lucky.

After albout 3.5 days of fishing our catch was quite large. Between the 10 of us we were able to reel in about 60 trout. We spent most of the evening cleaning and filleting our catch. Lucky that there was a freezer at the lodge it made the whole operations easier.

Danny and Bill are working on preparations for our traditional last night together fish fry dinner. The meal consisted of fried trout, pinto beans, corn bread, tomatoes, and fried potatoes. Washed it all down with soda and for some of us ice cream. We stayed up well into the night talking about the ones that got away and how some of us reeled in the big ones. Of course no fishing trip would be comnplete without telling stories from our childhood.

The following morning some of us slept in while a few of us made one last attempt to reel in the big one. An early morning rain storm rolled into the valley forcing us off the the river. Just in time to clean up and say our goodbyes.
